The Trial: Day Two

Five witnesses - 4 police officers and one quarter level official – testified. There was not much note-worthy. It was almost about John William Yettaw.

Noting at current pace of the trial and the news of more than 20 witnesses plan to testify, the trial could take as long as three months according to some estimation.

Let’s assume that the estimated time-length of the trial is right enough, there might raise one more question: what’s the motive behind this?

For sure is that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is going to stay inside Insein prison compound during this. She will not have the chance to access outside news like she stays at her home. One thing no one can know for sure is that how much chance her lawyers could get talking and discussion with her not only about ongoing trial but about other concerned matters.

She still has not received another visit by her personal physician, Dr. Tin Myo Win. And it’s also not clear that he will be allowed to do so. Has he requested? Has Daw Aung San Suu Kyi requested?

So far, the trial has raised more questions than answers, if any.

International outcry is still growing. But, will it go far enough to reach a viable outcome? It’s very unlikely citing May 30, 2003 situation.

Who’s watching closely?
